Well 2022 is finally here, it was a toothy Christmas holiday for the on a mission team. With summer like patterns at the end of December made for some awesome weather and incredible fishing!
We were hit with one of the busiest holiday seasons we’ve had. First season with two boats and we were able to accommodate large family parties and we didn’t stop for about three weeks. We are still going strong with only two availabilities left this week. The fishing has been absolutely incredible. Lots of bait everywhere water temps in the mid 70s light winds makes our job very easy. The back country and nearshore has remained as solid as it can be. Redfish and snook seem to be everywhere like it’s still fall. We also have been finding some fish for the table with sheephead, mangrove snapper, trout, tripletail and even a few gag grouper to close out the season. So as we start this new year we are still extremely busy. If you have any indication of when you would like to fish or when your party would like to be on the water please reach out to anyone of our captains. Thank you. Happy new year! The Bedell captain’s.

Well Christmas is right around the corner and we would be thinking it’s still September around here with this beautiful weather that we’ve been having. Light winds and water temperatures in the mid 70s have made offshore fishing incredible this week. With everything from Permit, Cobia, Gag Grouper and if that’s not enough for you lots of sharks in Bonitas to pull on too. We are sure the backcountry fishing is been good as well but when the Seas are this calm we take full advantage of these opportunities as you can see our photos.
Now as to Christmas break and availability. We have one boat completely almost full until the first of the year. We do have some availability from our second boat which would be filling up very fast, we booked nine charters yesterday. If this is a little hint about what’s getting ready to go on around here please plan accordingly and let us know if you would like to get anything in the books for the holidays. Also we do offer last minute gift certificates and fishing packages for Christmas. Just get with any of our captains and we can get this written up for you and deliver it to your family for Christmas! Everyone have a safe happy holiday. We will see you on the water, tight lines. The Bedell Captains. The OAM team had a solid week of fishing here in Naples, Florida. The week started out with beautiful Fall weather. Calm winds and fair seas allowed use to go where we needed to for some incredible offshore fishing. The Fall Cobia run has started. We are seeing nice packs of fish. Cobia eating everywhere. Top and bottom. Most fish are all cookie cutter slot fish from 31-35 inches. With the 33 being the keeper slot, some made it home for dinner.
Of course, with nice weather comes awful weather. We were able to pen pilchards up with upcoming weather. This helps us have bait for your charters with it blowing 30 we can still hide in the backcountry and get rewarded with beautiful Snook and Redfish. Our calendars are very busy thru Thanksgiving and into the 1st of December. We also have two sister boats and can sneak you into if needed. Thank you. Tight lines. The Bedell Captain’s. November always brings some phenomenal fishing. Gotta love all of the different Fall options. Kingfish, Tripletail, Bonita, Cobia, Snook, Redfish and various sharks will all be firing! Book accordingly.
As the weather slightly cools down here in Naples, Florida. It’s amazing to see how hot the fishing gets!
As we enter the first week of November fishing remains so solid and only going to get better this month! I’ll kinds of new species will move into our area as the cold fronts start marching down and water temperatures plummet! Cobia, Tripletail, Bonita, Kingfish are just a few of the species that will be showing up. We had a nice run with a few cobia on some trips this week, just a few fish undersize and lost some bigger ones at the boat! These wrecks are also holding good numbers of giant Snook and goliath grouper. The king fish Spanish mackerel in Bonita should all be blasting mid water to top water column! Also a plethora of mangrove snapper‘s for the table. For the back country this is one of our favorite months. Big snook and redfish will move into their usual haunts for the winter months. Some big snook will move off to the wreck and some will remain in the back in the coves and creeks! We love this month and fishing can be absolutely amazing!! Calendars are filling up every day. Even with our second boat added Thanksgiving week is almost full and starting to fill the rest of the month very quickly. Please reach out to anyone of our captains for any information or any guidance in booking your families charter! Thank you, the Bedell Captains. Well we went to sleep last night and it was summer. We woke up to winter. So crazy! That’s why we love Florida!
These cooler temperatures are a good thing. It will bring all kinds of new species to our areas. The Tarpon will show up in greater numbers. The Kingfish, Cobia and Tripletail will all be here any day now. The Bonita showed, we saw some small numbers this morning. The backcountry and near shore have been really good. Lots of Redfish seem to be everywhere in good numbers. Trout too. Snook and big Jacks are not far behind. The offshore has been shut down this week due to 15-25 knot winds make it miserable and I promise you don’t want to go there. The near shore is completely on fire. Black-tip, Spinners, Bulls sharks are everywhere, even had a 10 tiger swim up to the boat and swiped the bait! Our calendars are filling up fast Thanksgiving is almost already closed out so if you have any plans on being near Naples, Florida during that time I would definitely give us a call. Thank you the Bedell Captains! The inshore and beach fishing has come alive this week! The water has cooled just a few degrees and light east winds has made for incredible clean water and amazing sight fishing opportunities.
The Tarpon are doing cartwheels and backflips in the Pilchard pods at first light in the morning. These fish can be targeted by a variety of plugs or simply just the cut chunk on the bottom! They have been a little finicky because they are just gorging on shiners! It’s been a very short window at daybreak it’s usually over very quickly. Also the benefit of the chunk bait, we’ve been picking up lots of spinner and Blacktip shark‘s which are also fun to pull on when the tarpon are being finicky. Massive schools of Jack’s have been patrolling the beach as well. Large schools all different sizes some schools are 5 pounds other schools are 15 to 20 with some larger 30s in there! These fish are in 3 feet of water daisychaining eating everything but the kitchen sink. The backcountry fishing has come alive as well! With these cooler water temperatures the red fish have littered the whole region. You could find these fish on docks, bays, points, coves, rock piles even free swimming massive schools just offshore! It feels like season is here earlier and earlier every day. Our book very busy but we have also added a sister boat this year to take on any extra work. Which leaves our schedule with another boat available for the calendar! Please don’t hesitate or wait to reach out to anyone of our captains! Thank you. The Bedell Captains! The OAM team just got back from a long extended stay and a little R&R in the keys. We were welcomed with the first day of Fall and this beautiful 41 inch Snook our first day back to work!
As we enter the first week of October lots of things are happening here in Southwest Florida. The Tarpon are doing backflips in the bait pods off the beach in the morning. Snook, Redfish and Trout will all be out on the beach’s gorging on all of the pilchards. The inshore wrecks are loaded with big Snook, Cobia, Spanish mackerel and a plethora of Snapper. The OAM team will also have a sister boat to our Sobalo. It is a 22 foot Privateer and will be running trips on it starting in October. We will now be able to accommodate larger parties and overflow. We are looking forward to a very busy season we are already starting to see the tourist show up the car carriers are making their way down so please book accordingly. Do not wait. Do not hesitate. Book with anyone of our captains today! Thank you the Bedell Captains Naples Inshore and Offshore Fishing Charters The pre-fall fishing in Naples, Florida is right on schedule. The air and water temperatures really haven’t cooled down but we are seeing some fishy fall patterns already starting to take place.
This Labor Day weekend was very busy in the backcountry so we did sneak out to some of the inshore wrecks and they paid off very well. Spanish mackerel seem to be everywhere and some big ones in the mix. Even some larger Snook and mangrove snapper are eating the pilchards on these wrecks. Lots of barracudas in the mix. Goliath grouper‘s. Also a plethora of black tips and spinner sharks have moved into our region! Also the back to back hurricanes that have passed us by the skin of our teeth. Have moved extreme numbers of triple tail into our area. The stone crab traps are not even out yet and we are seeing floaters everywhere, anticipating October very much! This is one of our slowest months of the year. It sure doesn’t feel like it, we are still doing 3 to 4 trips a week. Lots of late shoppers and callers but with our schedules wide-open they have the best pic of weather days. So please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of our captains to book your families charter! Thank you, the Bedell Captains. Fishing in September in Naples, Florida. We love this month around here. This is our slowest month of the year. We don’t mind. No one at the ramp or on the water. Yes you can pick any shoreline you like. Bait is absolutely everywhere. So are the gamefish!
Our calendars are very spotty at best for September. One here, one there. This will change the closer we get to October. We will have 2 bay boats this season to cater to the larger parties and with overflow. Please reach out to any one of our captains to book your trip of a lifetime! Thank you. The Bedell Captain’s. |
