As we are a month into summer the Tarpon are starting to thin out. We are still seeing some trains and daisy chains and even some rogue free swimmers. Although these fish are a little smaller. Tarpon in the 50 to 90 pound class are still in our region and actually are the perfect size ones for the beginners. They still do all the tarpon things that we love but give up very quickly. Which is nice for release and a quick photo to swim away healthy!
Our permit game still remains absolutely as solid as can be! We have these fish on lock. You just better bring your A game! These fish are strong, massive, and will take you to the house if you’re not prepared! We’ve had a lot of first timers and beginner anglers on these fish. It’s usually trial by fire but by the third or fourth one things start to click! To stay with the offshore fishery the inshore wrecks have been as good as it gets as well. We had a client book 3 full days last week. To capitalize on everything you could. He wanted Goliaths and we proceeded to catch him 19 in two days from 10 pounds to 75 pounds. These are usually another bucket list fish and very available! We’ve also found some smaller Cobia. Lots of barracudas. Even had a visit from a 10 foot Tigershark this week! Exciting stuff and it changes by the day! We are thinning out on our calendars but there is still room available. This time of the year we get to cherry pick and line up the stars for you for the best available fishing day of your life! Book accordingly and please reach out to anyone of our captains. Thank you the Captain Bedell‘s

The mid June fishing report for Naples Florida. Ever since tropical storm one went through two weeks ago we have been dealing with some serious weather. Lots of rain. Scattered showers and straight west winds made our fishery very interesting!
Our boats have not stopped and we have been fishing with this weather every day. We have been making the best of it. Also there are plenty of fish around ready to chew. The Tarpon fishery off the beach got interesting with 2 to 4 foot swells every day made it near impossible. We dialed our resources into the back and found some nice fish in the 4 foot water depth. These fish were eating a variety of cut bait. Which is very nice, you can get away with usually larger leader and larger hooks. Also nice mix bag of sharks in the same area. Mostly blacktips, spinners and bulls are really fun to pull on in between the tarpon. Also, the snook fishing in the back has really tuned up. We have been catching between 50 and 60 snook pretty much on every half day Charter. Most fish in the slot size with a couple bigger ones breaking off close to the boat. They have been absolute snook rodeos great action for beginning anglers and fun for the whole family! Let’s fast forward a little bit and to where the wind finally stops. As of the last couple days we have slipped into our summer patterns. Northeast to East wind has made it flat along the beach and opened up the doors for some site fishing for Tarpon in crystal clear water. This is the game we love! On that same note the offshore permit are still here and still chewing! Monster behemoth 40 inchers have been coming over the gunnels of the OAM teams boats for a quick photo and then released quickly you fight again. As having both of our boats in the mix it still feels like March. Our phones are still exploding with late caller’s and last-minute shoppers. These all have been coming after our daily post of Tarpon and permit. These posts get shared talked among friends and family and Charters are usually booked the next day. So please plan accordingly. If you or your family would love to get in on any of this incredible fishery we have right now please let anyone of our captains know. Thank you the Bedell Captains! Well it’s June and this is the game everyday! Tarpon for breakfast. Permit for lunch! Also, the 1st day of hurricane season and we already have one coming up the pipe. Everyone stay safe!
Summer and June fishing is one of the months that we wait all year for. This is the month we talk about all year long. When clients ask everyday and all year long. When is the best month to fish? That’s right now!! These fish have shown up a few months ago and should be around most of the summer. The Tarpon are everywhere. Lots of fish swimming northbound and southbound. Lots of trains. Lots of daisy chains. Even some very larger rogue fish swimming up the beach in crystal clear water. Makes it very easy to pitch a crab in their path! Better hold on! When that shuts down by mid morning or boat traffic we slide out to the inshore and offshore wrecks. The permit have been stacked on these as well. Fish have been eating well on both tides. When we pull up on these wrecks we have crabs loaded in hand. Usually these fish are up high and floating and a dead giveaway from the tower. A well place crab will earn you great results and most of the time doubles! Both these species are absolute trophy’s and most people‘s bucket list! We have been serving them up on the daily and if you’re ready to knock these fish off your list please give us a call this month! We still have two boats running almost every day we will be pulling one of those out of the mix mid month for some repairs and to get her ready for next season and the fall fishery! With that being said, we still have the larger boat working and this is time when our serious clients call. So lots of full days booked you’re gonna want all the time you need to chase these beautiful fish! Hope to see you on the water. Tight lines. The Captain Bedell‘s! |
