Well it’s June and this is the game everyday! Tarpon for breakfast. Permit for lunch! Also, the 1st day of hurricane season and we already have one coming up the pipe. Everyone stay safe!
Summer and June fishing is one of the months that we wait all year for. This is the month we talk about all year long. When clients ask everyday and all year long. When is the best month to fish? That’s right now!! These fish have shown up a few months ago and should be around most of the summer. The Tarpon are everywhere. Lots of fish swimming northbound and southbound. Lots of trains. Lots of daisy chains. Even some very larger rogue fish swimming up the beach in crystal clear water. Makes it very easy to pitch a crab in their path! Better hold on! When that shuts down by mid morning or boat traffic we slide out to the inshore and offshore wrecks. The permit have been stacked on these as well. Fish have been eating well on both tides. When we pull up on these wrecks we have crabs loaded in hand. Usually these fish are up high and floating and a dead giveaway from the tower. A well place crab will earn you great results and most of the time doubles! Both these species are absolute trophy’s and most people‘s bucket list! We have been serving them up on the daily and if you’re ready to knock these fish off your list please give us a call this month! We still have two boats running almost every day we will be pulling one of those out of the mix mid month for some repairs and to get her ready for next season and the fall fishery! With that being said, we still have the larger boat working and this is time when our serious clients call. So lots of full days booked you’re gonna want all the time you need to chase these beautiful fish! Hope to see you on the water. Tight lines. The Captain Bedell‘s!

Spring is here in Naples, Florida and that means glamour species. Our area has been littered with Tarpon & Permit these last few weeks. Best part is that it’s just the beginning!
Our trips start a little earlier this time of year. Instead of us catching pilchards at 5am for 3 hours is pretty much over. Now we take our clients with us to sight cast to beautiful schools of Tarpon at sunrise. Huge pods of fish are migrating threw and give us great shots at these fish. That game is usually over by about 10am and then it’s off to the Permit grounds. Just a short jog offshore and we are graced with huge schools of Permit. All ranges from 20-50 pounds. We caught one last week that was 6 pounds shy of a Florida State record. With that being said. These fish are mean strong and will test every bit of your ability! Please get your rest and eat your Wheaties! This is a very special time of year and you can really pick some amazing fish off your bucket list. Please give us a call and we will get you a trip of a lifetime! Thank you the Bedell Captains! Happy Easter to all of the On a Missions clients! Spring is in full swing. Everything is right where it needs to be.
The offshore fishing is really heating up. Permit and Cobia are all over the wrecks. Sight fishing for these amazing fish is quite a sight to see. Also what we love to do. These wrecks are also littered with barracuda and a plethora of different sharks and jewfish to pull on! The inshore and beach fishing has exploded this week. Thousands of Tarpon have entered our region. Huge schools of fish all over the place. Mixed in with these Tarpon are large schools of giant jacks and a lot of black tips and spinner sharks all in crystal clear water for site fishing opportunities! Also there have been footballs field of Bonita ravishing baits all along the beach. Our calendars are still very full until around the first week of May. We do have some cancellations, people missed flights, or just merely don’t show up. Please feel free to reach out to anyone of our captains to try to capitalize on one of the spots for your family. Also try booking early we have lots of spots in May and June and this spring fishing is only going to get better! Have a safe and happy Easter tight lines thank you the Bedell Captains. April is here and someone really needs to turn the fan off! We have been dealing with some crazy wind for this time of the year. We have only been able to sneak offshore two days in the last 3 weeks. As you can see it’s paid off!
The offshore fishery has been supplying some of the best permit fishing I’ve seen this early in the season in a long time. Large football field size schools swimming all around these wrecks from 25 pounders all the way up to 40s. These wrecks have also been holding a healthy amount of Cobia, Barracuda‘s, Bonitas, sharks and lots of snappers for the table! The inshore and backcountry have been very solid and really the only game right now with all of this weather. The redfish have still been in the area and eating well. Lots of Trout, Jacks, smaller Snook, the larger ones have been hiding.Ha! Also good numbers of micro tarpon around in the 5-30 range. Even big ol late season triple tail in the mix! Our trips in April is disappearing by the hour. I believe we have 2 days available left this month. That’s for both boats. Please still reach out, we have cancellations and clients that miss their flights all the time. Plan accordingly and we are looking forward to getting you on the water! Tight lines! The Bedell Captains. Both of our fisheries are about as good as they get right now. The offshore and backcountry waters have all been thriving!
Well it is still March and we are still picking our days to head offshore. Usually with March means wind. Lots of wind. If you watch your apps, and pick your day you can capitalize on some amazing fishing! The permit are here! Football field schools of fish are just about on every wreck. Lots of fish up high. Tailing, mooning, and just waiting for a well-placed sight fished crab to pick off these fish from 25 to 40 pounds. Also the Cobia have been there to greet us almost every time. Wolf packs of fish ranging from 20 to 50 pounds are up high as well and ready to usually eat any bait fish, artificial, or fly! Yes and the giant schools of barracudas are never far away! These fish have been ravishing the artificial over the live bait! Insane eats right at your feet almost figure 8 musky style fishing! Packs of fish are surrounding the boat waiting for you to toss the artificial and rip it through them! Amazing site fishing opportunities with some National Geographic stuff thrown in! The back country fishery has been up to par and some great things happening back there as well. Seems like any Shoreline, Cove, or point you hit with a Livewell of frisky pilchards and you are almost in immediate action. Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Trout and of course Jack’s have all been everywhere. Just toss a few freebies out the back and wait for the action to come alive. Almost instantly you see these fish putting huge holes in the water and waiting for you to place your bait right in the middle and hold on! We love it!! Now with the fishing being the way it is and the time of year being where it is our calendars are exploding. Even with two boats we are running every day so please try to prevent the late calls. We just don’t have room for you unless there is a emergency cancellation. Please book accordingly. I would book a charter before you book your flight information because they are going fast. We hate to leave anyone out and we want to make sure everybody has a chance to get on the water with us. Looking forward to seeing you on the water. Everyone have a happy and safe spring break and Easter. Tight lines! Thank you, the Bedell Captains! Well with March we all know it means wind, and yes we have it, lots of it!
From south to east 20+ knots every day pretty much shut down the offshore fishery around us. We did have a small window of king fish and Bonita at the Bait spot earlier in the week but we were chased off immediately by raging winds and rising seas. When this happens we put all of our resources into the inshore and back country fishery. We have places to hide from the wind and traffic. A lot of the spots this week have been producing lots of mixed bag of different species! Some Juvenile Tarpon have filled into some of the coves in the back which are always fun on light tackle. The redfish seem to be on every corner and another way to fill the gaps. Also some trout and mangrove snapper coming home for dinner! There has also been a good amount of sharks along the beach and the strings and trains of Tarpon should be here any day now! We have been carrying crabs with us every day waiting for those first rogue fish to start moving north. March and April seem to be the busiest months of the year for us and our calendars are exploding. We have added online booking to make life easier for everyone. Pick your day, pick your time, pick your boat, let us do the rest! Looking forward to seeing everyone on the water. Thank you the Bedell Captains! The fishing the first week of March has been nothing less than remarkable. To say Spring has sprung is an understatement! What has been happening around here feels more like the Bahamas and Central America than possibly Naples, Florida!
The offshore fishing seems that everything is months early than it should be. We have literally been bouncing off thousand fish schools of permit this last week. Three different sized football field schools of tailing, wagging and daisy chaining permit all from 15 to 40 pounds! Toss your crab in the middle and hold on! Also in the schools of Permit are wolf packs of Cobia ranging from 20 to 50 pounds. These fish will literally eat anything you throw out on from a jig, plug or well-placed live bait always does the trick! We really can’t leave this one out either. After releasing a permit on Saturday Capt Weston looked over and found a beautiful sailfish. Captain Perry quickly grabbed a bait to site fish this beautiful pelagic! Absolute unicorn in these parts and very very rare. The last time the onamissionfishingcharters team caught a sailfish in the gulf it was 1996. What’s even crazier than the Sailfish is we were graced with a beautiful white shark the day before. This 8 foot juvenile great white was not scared of us at all. It was almost sizing us up, what an amazing creature still very rare in these parts! The back country fishing is absolutely coming alive as well. The giant snook are moving in off the wrecks and setting up in their usual haunts! The spawn should be around May and all the big girls eat! Redfish are still about on every shoreline along with jacks and even some trout and mangrove snapper for the table if you like! The tarpon should be here any day now. There have been some juveniles in the back country from 5 to 30 pounds. The big ones should be here any day! We have already seen a few rogue fish! Now if all this doesn’t get your arms tired we still have more sharks to pull on than anybody probably wants to. From black tips and spinners to sand bars and bulls. Even the occasional tiger and hammerhead will still show up! We are getting ready to enter one of the busiest seasons of the year. March is already gearing up to be very busy while we have almost one boat already booked. Still plenty of room left on the second boat to get your family on the water. April and May are following suit! We have also now added online booking to our website. Naplesoffshorefishingcharters.com you can go on there and book your charter at any time. Even when we are offshore out of range from any cell phone towers. So please book accordingly and visit the site, it’s very easy and walks you right through it! We hope to get you and your family out on the water, thank you from all the captains at On A Mission! The fishing in Naples has finally felt like winter. The water has finally reached the 60s and right where it’s supposed to be for January.
We have switched gears into shrimp and artificials. With the water cooling these winter species all thrive this time of year. For the backcountry it’s been a nice mix bag of trout, sheep head, mangrove snapper, and the redfish have been going gangbusters on anything in there face. Also, a few snook and pompano in the mix. For the offshore. Weather pending, obviously. Also a nice mix bag. Most of the larger Snook have moved off to the inshore wrecks. All eating shrimp as well. Also snapper and sheep head on these same wrecks. Also possibly Cobia or permit in the mix too. Maybe a triple tail or Bonitas on the way! Some things have settled down after the holidays, but we are still very busy. Also Tarpon and Permit season’s getting booked up fast. Reach out to any one of our captains for your families Charter. Thank you the Bedell Captain’s. Well 2022 is finally here, it was a toothy Christmas holiday for the on a mission team. With summer like patterns at the end of December made for some awesome weather and incredible fishing!
We were hit with one of the busiest holiday seasons we’ve had. First season with two boats and we were able to accommodate large family parties and we didn’t stop for about three weeks. We are still going strong with only two availabilities left this week. The fishing has been absolutely incredible. Lots of bait everywhere water temps in the mid 70s light winds makes our job very easy. The back country and nearshore has remained as solid as it can be. Redfish and snook seem to be everywhere like it’s still fall. We also have been finding some fish for the table with sheephead, mangrove snapper, trout, tripletail and even a few gag grouper to close out the season. So as we start this new year we are still extremely busy. If you have any indication of when you would like to fish or when your party would like to be on the water please reach out to anyone of our captains. Thank you. Happy new year! The Bedell captain’s. Well Christmas is right around the corner and we would be thinking it’s still September around here with this beautiful weather that we’ve been having. Light winds and water temperatures in the mid 70s have made offshore fishing incredible this week. With everything from Permit, Cobia, Gag Grouper and if that’s not enough for you lots of sharks in Bonitas to pull on too. We are sure the backcountry fishing is been good as well but when the Seas are this calm we take full advantage of these opportunities as you can see our photos.
Now as to Christmas break and availability. We have one boat completely almost full until the first of the year. We do have some availability from our second boat which would be filling up very fast, we booked nine charters yesterday. If this is a little hint about what’s getting ready to go on around here please plan accordingly and let us know if you would like to get anything in the books for the holidays. Also we do offer last minute gift certificates and fishing packages for Christmas. Just get with any of our captains and we can get this written up for you and deliver it to your family for Christmas! Everyone have a safe happy holiday. We will see you on the water, tight lines.
