Thank you, Capt. Wes!
We snuck out for probably one of the last permit trips of the summer. The Gulf is littered with hurricanes right now. Hopefully these fish will be around for a few more weeks with good weather pending. The back has been solid! There has been a plethora of beautiful pilchards everywhere you want to go. The Bait is one and done with all the pearls you need for a perfect day of fishing. There’s been lots of variety in the back, lots of Snook, juvenile Tarpon, jacks mangrove snapper and the fall redfish have started to show up as well. This is usually the off-season for us this time of the year but with everything that’s been going on we have been staying very steady. Lots of people shopping, a few booking. We have plenty of room in our calendars for your parties up to 4 Angler’s. This is the perfect time of the year to get on the water and catch some variety! Hope to see you all very soon, tight lines!
Thank you, Capt. Wes!
Permit are a highly sought after game fish that we primarily target. There is a reason for all the praise this fish gets from the fishing community. They are a highly intelligent fish and pound for pound the hardest fighting fish we have in our area. Every Permit caught aboard our boat is tagged for scientific research to discover more about their migration and spawning patterns. That fish will have your name on it no matter where it swims! All of the tagging is done through Bonefish Tarpon Trust.
We are still out playing with these fish every opportunity we can and we are on them! If you would like to book a trip please feel free to call or email any of our captains and we will love to put your party on some of these beautiful fish.
Tight lines, Capt Wes
On a Mission Charters had Michael Walker from the Jacksonville Jaguars on our boat last week. This was the second attempt out they lost some monsters the previous week. He was looking for some redemption, and found it!
The permit game has been solid in our region. Unfortunately, mother nature rain wind and unstable weather has prevented us from making it out there this week. So we have switched gears to the back. Some of the beach bait is growing in size and starting to be usable snook and redfish has been solid there has been a few Tarpon on the beach still plenty of things to find.
Please give us a call or email if you have any charter questions. Any of our captains are very knowledgeable and can help you with your questions on booking your personalized Charter.
Thank you, Capt and Wes Bedell
On a mission is still on the Permit. To be honest, it’s been the easiest bait fishing we have at the moment. It’s just to easy to go buy a few dozen crabs and go put them to work. Sight casting is the norm, and our favorite. It seems our fish are a little deeper than usual. So we have been doing better just soaking them and waiting for the “drive by”
Are other bait-fishing has seemed impossible lately. The pilchards have seemed to left a month early. We have been getting very lucky and getting enough to use. Fishing is easy when you have them, but near impossible when you don’t. So please be patient. We have been going out 2 to 3 hours before our charter to try to locate it and still barely getting enough to use for our charter. We have been use of sabkis also to get threads and using them as well. The beach is loaded with 1 inch pilchards and we are waiting for those to grow.
Still been a few tarpon around as well, and we love that they eat crabs this time of the year.
It seems the world is opening back up, we are getting study calls and clients are traveling to Fish! If you are in the Naples, Florida area and you would like to book a charter, please feel to reach out to anyone of our captains.
The Captain Bedell’s!
Naples Florida Offshore and Inshore Fishing Charters
Some great fishing is still going on after the storm in Naples, Florida. Last week we took off because of unstable weather in the Gulf of Mexico. Strong winds and huge surf made it impossible to be on the water. We didn’t mind as we love to surf as well and, took advantage of the amazing waves.
As things settle, we are back at it. This is the biggest week of fishing for us. The new moon is this week and the best week to fish for Permit & Tarpon. Anything else that swims for that matter. The Permit spawn on this moon, and eat like crazy! We take full advantage of those scenarios.
Our schedule next week is pretty jammed up but we do have some availability if someone wanted to sneak in and take advantage of this amazing fishing next week.
Please contact On A Mission Charter’s in beautiful Naples for all your fishing needs!
Thanks, tight lines,
The Capt. Bedell’s
May fishing has still been on fire. Large numbers of these beautiful permit are still patrolling most of the wrecks in our region. Life is slowly coming back to normal, we are getting back on the water with clients. We are doing about 3 to 4 trips a week for the next few weeks, we still have some spots available if anyone wants to go target some permit! We are still practicing social distancing on our vessel with our tower 15 feet in the air. We load you up with a crab, stand you on the bow, and we can see the fish coming and give sight fishing orders. Very exciting!
Looking forward to getting you out on the water.
Naples Florida Inshore and Offshore Fishing Charters
On a Mission fishing charters in Naples, Florida had the pleasure to fish the legend UFC fighter Clay the carpenter Guida last week. We went out looking for permit, had to settle for Bonita and barracudas.
Offshore has been good when the winds corporate. All of the spring fish are showing up. It’s quite sad with all of this CV-19 all around us. Charters have come to an almost complete stop. Our ramps are still open, we are fishing for fun and sport just to stay in-tuned to what’s going on out there.
On a Mission will be doing discounted charters for locals and Floridians. If you are from Naples or from Florida we will be offering a 15% discount to all charter’s. We also have gift certificates available for when all of this clears up.
All of the captains from on a mission also supply a sightseeing and boat cruise/sunset tours for people wanting to just get out of the house. No fishing required. If you are interested please go check out, Off the beaten path. Naplessightseeingtours.com
Hopefully this will all be over soon and we can all be enjoying more time on the water, take care, tight lines, stay safe, Captain Wes.
The offshore game is starting to come alive. Barracudas, Bonita’s, sharks, even some permit started showing up. We have been stocked full of these drag screaming game fish. The wind has been light. The seas have been calm, and the game fish have been cooperating. We’ve been seeing some very large schools of permit tailing, bobbing but just not interested yet. Hopefully this week we will be able to close that deal.
In the back. Has been steady as well. Snook jacks trout pompano sheep head redfish mackerel have all been steady characters in the back. Even a few juvenile tarpon have shown up.
We have obviously had a few cancellations with this world scare going on. Also have had a flux of Floridians and locals filling those gaps. We still have some availability in the next few weeks so please come get some great fishing and clean air!!
Tight lines Capt. Wes
Naples, Florida Inshore and Offshore Fishing Charters
The weather this last week was more like July then February. Slicked off conditions, water temperature still remain cool enough to have the gamefish close by.
Acres and acres of threads and pilchards have shown up in our region all on the inshore wrecks. Kingfish Spanish mackerel jacks in a variety of sharks are all right on their trail. It has been straight up king fish rodeos with quality fish coming to the boat.
Phones are still ringing off the hook, please try to get your calls in to enjoy this incredible experience. It’s only going to get better from here!!
Tight lines, Captain Wes
Naples Inshore and Offshore Fishing Charters
Well I’m not sure but I believe I called it . Spring has sprung! We went from straight shrimp fishing cold water last week to 75° water and pilchards!
The Snook and red-fishing this week has been incredible. Lots of slot fish across the board, even lost some studs.
Offshore, there have been some kingfish, Bonita and a few triple tail on some of the inshore wrecks. but mother nature and the winds have been fairly heavy and preventing us to capitalize on that. That’s when Plan B and fishing the back comes in clutch!
I know these reports I sound like a broken record but our calendars are getting full and tight we still have a few availability trips on the skiff in March and the Sobalo trips are filling in daily .
Tight lines, thank you captain Wes Bedell!
