Fishing report for Fourth of July weekend in Naples Florida. The Permit fishing in our area is starting to fire up. Also some of the winds have laid down. So we are able to get to some of the nearshore and offshore wrecks off Naples to fish for these beautiful fish. A well-placed crab in a school of 20 of these fish usually results in a instant hook up! Lots of barracudas and sharks to fill in some of the gaps.
The back country fishing remains completely as solid as it can be! It just seems like these monsters Snook are everywhere and that’s not a bad thing! They are eating everything from live bait to dead bait, also flies and artificial‘s! Which makes it a very fun game for any angler! Our books are starting to fill up for the holiday weekend we do have some availability and we can get you and your family on the water this weekend. Please reach out to anyone of our captains to book your charter. Thank you the Bedell Captains!

The captains over here at on a mission guide service in Naples Florida always find our self in the same predicament. We cannot stress enough to our clients how important it is to be able to use artificial’s. It is so very important! We cannot always find bait. There are times of the year that it is very difficult to find, even if we go out three or four hours before our charter we come back with 10 pieces. Not even enough to fish a half day.
That’s where the artificial game comes to play. Top water and soft plastics even jigs and flies all work wonders if used correctly! I find myself telling my clients this all the time. I probably sound like a broken record but I always say go practice in the backyard in the pond in the pool you don’t even need water. Practice casting in tight situations. Practice learning how to walk the dog with a top water plug correctly. We can coach you through the rest, if you have the simple skills! Also, the payoffs will keep you coming back! Backcountry game in the Naples area remains strong with these artificial‘s. Lots of big snook everywhere will crush these plugs. Redfish, jacks, trout, juvenile Tarpon. Even had some juvenile bull sharks and black tips completely blast these plugs! Once you hone your skills you will be surprised how fast your angling game will improve. If you want to become a better angler you have to learn how to fish with more than live bait! Tight lines! The Bedell Captains. I’m sure on all of my reports this month I have sounded like a broken record. Well this is why! If you’re looking to break that personal best snook record, these big girls are around. They are on the beach they are in the passes they are in the bushes! Cut ladyfish, mullet or thread have been the key. These big fish do not want to chase down any artificial or live bait. They are waiting for the slow easy meal and the benefits are very substantial. The other benefits of using cut bait. The redfish love them sharks and even tarpon. So when we throw these chunks out anything is possible.
The beach fishing & offshore has been very difficult the last week to 10 days. South to south east winds have been ripping and had a lot of things churned up. Still has been some tarpon on the beach when you can get a good bead on them we’ve been having some good hook ups. Lots of sharks to fill the gaps! We have some availability and lots of good fishing opportunities this summer available with beautiful weather and calm days are ahead. Please reach out to anyone of our captains to book your charter! Thank you the Bedell Captains Naples Inshore and Offshore Fishing Charters The Snook game remains as solid as possible in the Naples area. These beautiful fish are just about everywhere and chewing. The beach, the bushes, the passes, even the inshore wrecks are holding these fish. Even a few Redfish and juvenile Tarpon too. The clients are slowing down but the fishing is not we are still in our spring mode lots of things around to pull on.
Please reach out to anyone of our captains if you would like to book a charter. Thank you the Bedell Captains. The backcountry fishing in Naples, Florida remains solid and as good as spring can be. The big snook are everywhere and getting ready for the spawn. Massive Snook in large numbers are all over the passes, beaches and closest points to any moving water. These fish are eating anything in sight. Cut bait, live bait, flies, artificial‘s anything you can make their idea and not yours will get the best hook up. Also been a good number of redfish, Jack’s, and some juvenile Tarpon up to 40 pounds in these back country haunts as well.
The Offshore fishing in our region has been very difficult this month. We’ve been having crazy winds for May. It almost seems like March! There’s been no rhyme or reason, the winds have been blowing from every direction it seems like every day is been different and very trying for us. Seems like a lot of the tourist have headed back north for the summer. Which leaves nothing but the serious anglers and an opportunity to check that bucket list fish off of your list. We still have room in our schedules for your parties. Please reach out to any one of our captains with your booking needs. Thank you from the Bedell Captains! This is our favorite time of year to fish in the Naples area. Everything is happy and chewing. Bait is everywhere and so are the gamefish. Big Snook are still rooming around all the usual haunts. Also some junior Tarpon are in the same areas, along with Redfish, Jack’s and maybe some Snapper for dinner.
The larger Tarpon are on the beaches and coves closest to the beach to rest from the long migration. These fish are eating everything in sight from crabs to cut bait. We still have some availability this month if you would like to book some of these charters. Please reach out to anyone of our captains to line up your dates. Thank you. This time of the year the OAM team is going hard. Lots of people & fish in Naples, Fl. The fishing in our area has been next to none. The gamefish are all over the place. Big Snook, school’s of Redfish in every cove. The Tarpon are starting to show on the beach, and it seems the Jack’s are looming everywhere!
We have been doing a lot of trips on our skiff. Well both boats are booked, but it seems like the skinny stuff has been paying off great too. Smaller parties of 1-2 is perfect for the skiff to tuck away from traffic and fish the creeks. We probably have less then 10 days left open this month. So please don’t hesitate to book that trip of a lifetime. Please call any of are captains to knock that bucket fish off the list. Looking forward to hearing from you! Tight lines! thank you, the Bedell Captains. The springtime fishing in Naples, Florida is about as good as it gets. We haven’t seen fishing like this since fall! The Bait has showed up, and all of the game fish are hungry and waiting. An abundance of beautiful slot Redfish and over slots Snook have been everywhere. Any of the points, coves, bays, even docks and Sewalls have been producing fish! We’ve even had some massive Tarpon show up in the back country as well. We’ve hooked a couple monsters this week, put a few fish in the air still haven’t got one of the boat they are in the 150 to 180 pound class!
The Offshore fishery has still been very difficult to get to. We just haven’t had that break in the wind that we are needing to hit the wrecks for a Permit, Cobia, Kingfish and barracuda will all be there. Our calendars are still overflowing. Our next availability is around 15th of April. These days are very hard to get & going very quickly. Please reach out to anyone of our captains to secure your spot! Happy fishing, tight lines and we will see you on the water. Thank you, the Bedell Captains Late March fishing report for Naples Florida. We were blasted with a late season cold front this week. Water dropped almost 10° overnight. Obviously the offshore fishery has been shut down because of winds and weather. It didn’t seem to bother the redfish too bad. It was extremely hard for us to get bait this week, we switch back to shrimp and did very well. Got lots of nice redfish on both of our day trips. Even got some beautiful sheephead for dinner.
Hopefully that was the last cold front of the season. As soon as these winds calm down and we are able to get where we need to go we expect fishing to be back on schedule offshore. Our calendars are extremely full. We do have a few spots here and there to fill. If you would like to try to get one of these charters for your family please book accordingly! Thank you, the Bedell Captains |
