Cooler water, lots of cold fronts with wind and rain. We are still getting it done! With water temp in the low 60s this week, the fishing still remains very solid. We have been catching good amounts of great table fair. Sheephead, black drum, snapper, have all been staples this week. We have been fishing anywhere from the  wrecks up to 5 miles and every nook and cranny in the back country has been supplying these fish for our clients.

Looks like this weather remains the same for the next few weeks. That’s OK, we don’t mind it. We love to offer these different fishing tactics to our clients that we don’t normally do year-round.

So if you’re looking to bring the family out for some great excitement. Lots of action. Not really any monsters this time of the year, that’s OK, the dinners and action make up for it! Looking to hear from all of you for upcoming fishing trips. Please contact anyone of our captains for a trip of a lifetime.

Thank you,
Captain Wes

With the beginning of the year brings cold fronts, wind, rain, but we always have something and somewhere to go. With all these elements, the fishing slows way down. The fish are lethargic and or not very aggressive. They want to eat slow and shrimp is on the menu. The sheephead have been the staple for these cooler months. They love shrimp, they eat very slow and they are great table fair.

These fish are basically everywhere. Any kind of rock pile. Dock or even deep cuts in the back country. Even seen them up on the flats with the redfish and snook!

The Offshore fishing is very difficult to reach for us this time of the year. That’s why we have been concentrating on the wrecks and reefs within the 5 mile range of Naples. We are in the process of building our new offshore boat. Which will accommodate clients from 6 to 8 passengers that should be in the water by early summer. Also will be able to navigate the waters that we have around here this time of year a lot better.

Our calendars are very busy. There is a lot of people in town, we are getting booked up for Permit and Tarpon and Season already. If you would like to book anything for 2021 please reach out to anyone of our captains.

Thank you,
Captains Bedell

The On a Mission crew had a nice little break in the weather. Few days after a blistering cold front we were able to hit some of the artificial wrecks just outside Naples. These wreck are 2-5 miles from land. A very short ride. Lots of mixed bad spices. Like the Goliath Grouper, sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel, mangrove snapper and Gag Grouper. Could even have a Cobia swim through. We are ALWAYS looking for the Tripletail too!!!

When these cold fronts roll thru. We have Plan B in the backcountry. The back also supplies a nice mixed bag this time of the year. It’s usually a lot calmer in the back, and a lot of our clients prefer this. Lots of mixed bag species in the back, lots of things to do, lots of good table fare as well.

Our calendars are pretty packed for this week. We do have some room into next week and into 2021. Wishing everyone a happy and safe new year and looking forward to getting you all on the water in this new year!

Thank you, Captain Wes

Well here we are again with yet with another hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.

We really don’t mind, it just shuts the fishing along the beach and inshore  down a little bit. The fishing in the back remains solid. Big snook lots of reds, & jacks around every corner, always something to pull on. Even some juvenile Tarpon.

With the departure of tropical disturbance ETA. Fishing along the beach should go right back to normal. Tarpon sharks Bonita kingfish and triple tail will all be up for grabs. Our books are filling up completely for Thanksgiving we still have some half days available for that week so please if you and your family would like to get on the water with us please book accordingly!

So we will see you on the water, happy holidays & tight lines!

Finally our first dose of winter weather this week. With blustery north east winds 25 to 30 kn all week, we are still getting it done. With a category three hurricane to the south and cold fronts to the north the weather has been dicey this week. We still have some trips and are still on the fish.

With the water cooling this week will   have all the fish very active and starting to fattened up for the upcoming winter months. The offshore species include. Tarpon, Kingfish, Bonita, tripletail Spanish Mack’s & a variety of sharks if you feel like pulling on one of those.

The inshore and back country species have been cooperating as well, Snook Tarpon, Redfish are everywhere & Jack’s & snappers fill in the gaps’s.

Please call any one of our captains to book a trip of a lifetime, this is a great time of year to target multiple species!

Permit are a highly sought after game fish that we primarily target. There is a reason for all the praise this fish gets from the fishing community. They are a highly intelligent fish and pound for pound the hardest fighting fish we have in our area. Every Permit caught aboard our boat is tagged for scientific research to discover more about their migration and spawning patterns. That fish will have your name on it no matter where it swims! All of the tagging is done through Bonefish Tarpon Trust.

We are still out playing with these fish every opportunity we can and we are on them! If you would like to book a trip please feel free to call or email any of our captains and we will love to put your party on some of these beautiful fish.

Thank you.

Tight lines, Capt Wes

On a Mission Charters had Michael Walker from the Jacksonville Jaguars on our boat last week. This was the second attempt out they lost some monsters the previous week. He was looking for some redemption, and found it!

The permit game has been solid in our region. Unfortunately, mother nature rain wind and unstable weather has prevented us from making it out there this week. So we have switched gears to the back. Some of the beach bait is growing in size and starting to be usable snook and redfish has been solid there has been a few Tarpon on the beach still plenty of things to find.

Please give us a call or email if you have any charter questions. Any of our captains are very knowledgeable and can help you with your questions on booking your personalized Charter.

Thank you, Capt and Wes Bedell

On a mission is still on the Permit. To be honest, it’s been the easiest bait fishing we have at the moment. It’s just to easy to go buy a few dozen crabs and go put them to work. Sight casting is the norm, and our favorite. It seems our fish are a little deeper than usual. So we have been doing better just soaking them and waiting for the “drive by”

Are other bait-fishing has seemed impossible lately. The pilchards have seemed to left a month early. We have been getting very lucky and getting enough to use. Fishing is easy when you have them, but near impossible when you don’t. So please be patient. We have been going out 2 to 3 hours before our charter to try to locate it and still barely getting enough to use for our charter. We have been use of sabkis also to get threads and using them as well. The beach is loaded with 1 inch pilchards and we are waiting for those to grow.

Still been a few tarpon around as well, and we love that they eat crabs this time of the year.

It seems the world is opening back up, we are getting study calls and clients are traveling to Fish! If you are in the Naples, Florida area and you would like to book a charter, please feel to reach out to anyone of our captains.

Thank you,
The Captain Bedell’s!

Some great fishing is still going on after the storm in Naples, Florida. Last week we took off because of unstable weather in the Gulf of Mexico. Strong winds and huge surf made it impossible to be on the water. We didn’t mind as we love to surf as well and, took advantage of the amazing waves.

As things settle, we are back at it. This is the biggest week of fishing for us. The new moon is this week and the best week to fish for Permit & Tarpon.  Anything else that swims for that matter. The Permit spawn on this moon, and eat like crazy! We take full advantage of those scenarios.

Our schedule next week is pretty jammed up but we do have some availability if someone wanted to sneak in and take advantage of this amazing fishing next week.

Please contact On A Mission Charter’s in beautiful Naples for all your fishing needs!

Thanks, tight lines,

Fishing in Naples, Florida has been as good as it gets! With beautiful weather on both side of trips, we are at our favorite time of the year. With the start of our morning trips we have been fishing for Tarpon and monster Snook on the Beach. All of these site fishing challenges bring a intense feeling to the game. Just to watch these trophy fish eat at the boat is why we love our jobs. Look at these smiles, the stoke it is very real!

The spring transition into summer as some of the best fishing of the year. We look forward to these months these tides these fish all year long. It’s a very very special time of the year, and we love to pass these memories on to our clients.

The offshore fishing has been amazing as well. Permit continue to litter the Wrecks. Toss your crab into a school of 25 fish and watch them fight over it. Just about as good as it gets. There have been lots of other species to target when the permit are not cooperating. Barracudas, sharks, massive Jacks even some big cobia have been patrolling these Wrecks.

We have been fishing everywhere from Naples, Marco and to the 10,000 islands. If you are anywhere in this area please contact us for your amazing fishing experience.

Thank you and tight lines,
The Bedell Captains
